I can see folks not digging this but I have complete trust in Jonathan Hickman at this point. Sure I’m having a “Why Spider-Man” moment but since this is really about the “Future Foundation” and not the “Fantastic Four”, I can see it.

Parker was a close friend of Johnny Storm.

Parker is the favorite hero of Franklin Richards (also critical to storyline).

Parker is a brilliant scientist, which as far as Reed Richards is concerned, is more important than getting another guy on the team who fits the Silver Age theme of the team.

I also love the new costumes EXCEPT that the way the Thing seems to be shambling  makes his costume look bad.

Jonathan Hickman has revealed more of his plans for Marvel’s first family with the news that Spider-Man will be joining what’s now simply called the FF. Along with the wall-crawler come radically new costumes for Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman and the Thing that make it plain that the old idiom of the Fantastic Four died with the Human Torch, and that March’s FF #1 is going to be be a startling change in the history of these beloved characters.
